FAQs for TradeKing Webinar Events and Archives

Webinars are free and open to anyone. The TradeKing All-Star Webinar Series is open to anyone with an interest in trading the markets more effectively. You do not need to be a client to attend these free events, but webinar registration is required. They are often held on Tuesdays at 6pm ET with occasional events on Thursdays. A special session is held for beginners on the last Thursday of each month. Times may vary, so please check the schedule here. All topics are diverse in subject matter and skill level.

Registration is required. Be sure to register for each webinar you would like to attend. (You are not able to register for multiple webinars at one time.) Registration is required for all events, even if you have attended or registered for other webinars. No password or special webinar account is needed to participate. Webex is our webinar hosting platform, version WBS T27.

Webex and your computer connection. Before joining a TradeKing Webex webinar for the first time, make sure you uninstall any previous versions of Webex that may be on your computer. (Computer Start Menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Remove Webex). You should also delete any cookies. (Internet Explorer > Tools > General > Browsing history Delete…> Cookies > Delete cookies…> Are you sure? Yes.)

When using Webex for the first time, you may be prompted to download and install a program or it may occur automatically (system requirements and other features). For Windows users, Internet Explorer 6 or later, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or later, and Chrome 2 are the supported browsers. Both Safari 3.0 and Firefox 2.0 are supported for Mac OS. Javascript, Java and cookies must be enabled whether you are using a Windows or Macintosh environment. WebEx also supports Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX Operating Systems. If you are having difficulty connecting, please check your anti-virus software and/or your firewall device to ensure these items are not blocking your access. You may also need to add the webinar link to your list of trusted sites.

Live sessions: access, audio and help. To participate in TradeKing’s webinar events, register as an attendee and join the session about ten minutes before the scheduled time. Do not open or request a Webex account. This is not necessary. These requests will be rejected, but have no impact on your ability to attend our events.

To connect to the audio portion, the sound will come through your computer via a VOIP connection. Join the Integrated VOIP session when prompted. No audio will be available through telephone, nor any dial-in conference numbers provided. Please make sure your volume is unmuted and turned up, your speakers are turned on,  or your headset is activated and recognized on your computer. USB headsets work well.

Only the host and panelists will have speaking privileges during events. All attendees will be muted. You do not need a microphone. To communicate with the host or panelists, please use the Q&A box to submit questions. Be sure to submit your entry to “All Panelists.” Chat will not be available.

It is recommended to keep your cell phone (and other similar devices) or cordless phone completely shut off or away from your computer during webinars. These devices can interfere with your audio reception.

If you are still having technical issues during a live webinar, you may contact Webex's support line on 866-569-3239, choice 1 for assistance, followed by choice 2 for attendees.

Presentation slides and file transfer feature. When appropriate, slides or other documents may be provided during a live webinar through a file transfer window. A pop up window will appear. Simply click once on the file name and click “Download.” The file will then save to your computer at the specified location.

Other times, follow-up instructions may be provided to obtain the slides used. They may not be available for every session. They are distributed by and at the discretion of the guest speaker. Slides are available for webinars conducted by TradeKing staff.

Archived recordings. When you are not able to join us in real time, you may view a missed webinar’s recording. All recorded files are compatible with the systems mentioned above. If you cannot attend a session, please register so that you receive notification via email for how to access the recording at your convenience. Each recording is posted usually within a week of each event and will be available indefinitely.
