Disclaimer: This article is for illustrative use only and does not fully and accurately reflect the authors rapidly deteriorating state of mind. I have had requests to share my QQQQ options trading strategy. Being an awsome options trader, let me sum it up in a simple manner. I buy the basic long calls/puts. I start shaking when my buy in is executed. Sweat starts coursing down my forehead as I watch the index charts bounce up and down, back and forth, side to side. My mouth gets dry as media news reports switch from good to bad, bad to good, and Heaven to Hell. My left leg begins quivering when the inner voice in my head tells me the market is going to change direction any second now, putting me in the money. My inner voice is an evil genius with the IQ of a village idiot when it comes to predicting market movement. The sweat is now stinging my eyes as it is now time to sell, sell, sell. I enter the trade with my hot, sweaty palm moving the mouse. I see the trade executed. It's time for a cup of joe and a smoke. That is what I go through to squeeze 10%-30% profit out of a QQQQ options trade. It is also why I am not a person suited to be trading options. I am much more comfortable buying in to a stock position and "letting it ride." Why do I trade options at all? MONEY. I stated earlier that requests have been made for me to reveal my QQQQ strategy. I will now reveal the secret regarding my sensational options secret. Read closely so you fully understand. I am not smart enough to have a secret for options success. My strategy was born out of fear of option trading and desperation to make money while my equity portfolio attempts to validate the maxim that a stocks price will stop falling once it reaches 0 . I buy the basic long call/put one month out. It can be ITM ATM OTM depending on RECENT market volatility. The more volatile the better as I will go further OTM, buying the CHEAPER premium. I use RECENT daily volaitility as a directional buy in gauge because my goal is to get out of these trades as QUICKLY as possible. My plan revolves around knowing and accepting: low risk (cheap premiums)=low rewards (not giving trade time to mature by turning it quickly). My drawback to this strategy so far has been lack of discipline in one area. When I buy in to close to expiration because I "KNOW" that one more drop of juice can be squeezed. I get CRUSHED like a grape. I realize all this is earthshaking and revoloutionary in the world of options trading. No one else does it this way or even attempts a variation of it. Call me a pioneer.
