To look for America

My friends, I'm to beat up, burned out and tired to rant. I imagine a lot of you picture me as a wild eyed, angst ridden psychotic. Fair enough. I tend to get caught up in the subject of my blogs and a natural passion runs wild as I tap the keyboard. Not tonight. I am in a contemplative mood. Hard asit may be to believe. The last few months of daily trading and the non stop grind of soaking up  global economic information has left me high and dry. Snap, crackle, pop. A  thought entered my mind and has almost become a melancholic sedative as it keeps silently repeating itself. Where is the voice of America? There it is. I didn't claim it to be a deep or original thought. Where is the voice of America? I have become a very cynical human being over the past year. Coincidentally, the anniversary of my first year of trading has recently passed. Hmmm...could be a correlation here. Where is the voice of America? All we hear are the voices of self interest. We keep hearing the voiced interests of foreign powers. We keep hearing the voices of domestic corporate behemoths. We keep hearing the voices of media. We keep hearing the voices of our Government in all it's disjointed glory. We just continually keep hearing the voices of self interest. Where is the common mans voice? Make jokes about this writer hearing voices if you wish. Think about this though. How much of your time is spent hearing these same voices of self interest every day. Day in, day out. Where is the voice of America? Where is our stage to shout out what we want for our country? Where is our time on television to make a case for what we want. Where is our podium and microphone so that we may say "This is not good for America" Our childrens, childrens, children legacy is being voiced, signed, sealed and delivered without the voice of America. Aren't you and I the voice of America? The voices of self interest are doing an admirable job of making us forget this fact.

From one angst ridden psychotic to another, let me ease our mind, or at least what you have left of it...:0)

The voice of America is right where it has always been, in the 80% of the population who are not above the violent up and down swings of the market and the economy.  Yes the common man/woman in this country who need to budget their money to cover expenses. (Whether they do or not is another matter)

The common American who would be bankrupt, homeless and perhaps even dead after even three months of some type of income. The person who calls it the way they see it when the rules and normality of existing in this society need to be changed for the benefit of the majority rather than the few above the line to which the rules rarely apply.

Who might this normal person be you might ask? Well it would be the American voter. The troubling part is that we have always counted on our most important and powerful right as Americans to do the work we alone cannot do and now the importance of that right is slowly dwindling away wth every manipulation of the rules for the benefit of the few.

Our electoral power means nothing other than to prove that one person said enough of the right things for a short period of time to obtain more votes than the opposition. So here we are with a group of elected officials chosen by us to lead and make decisions in our best interest and on our behalf. So now the question becomes, how can we get OUR voice back? The answer is simple...stay involved and keep our elected officials accountable.

This may sound like work to some, but would you rather have done the 'work' our ancestors have done to get us the freedom we now enjoy instead? Some of you might, but my guess is that most would not. There are many ways to keep those elected by us accountable and they are not that hard.

The very thing that allows the corruption and manipulation to continue is that the common man does not read what is going on. This does not mean the newspapers or the evening news, or even some of the so-called hard hitting investigative reports. It means read the information that is available to all of us. Public office menas that everything has a public record that can be read and  analyzed. DO IT whenever you can. Elected officials know far more about you than you know about them unless you choose to do the work and find out what is going on. An informed and knowledgeable American has a voice. THIS VOICE will be what changes this country into the symbol for freedom and democracy it should always aspire to be.

Suggestion old man, take the view of the common man. Take those profits out of trade king and put money down on a nice vacation with the family. Keep those self interest alive by taking care of #1 you. You earned it, and if the world is totally self-centered so be it. The voice was bought in a take over deal. I think it went for 2 cents a share? Not to late for you to put in your two cents worth!

Would like to add yet another "angst ridden psychotic" voice to yet another rant and just ask the very basic question:

Do you, gents, REALLY hope/think that "THEY" give a flying f... ( one of the 7 words you cannot say in public places) what WE think, what WE need, what WE feel, if WE like THEM or not, if WE live or die?

Is bloggin any different than steam cooker's safety valve?

"symbol for freedom and democracy it should always aspire to be." - I probably not that old to remember, sorry...

Will, Corbin - I am NOT criticising YOU - I AM very upset myself
