Started a new group

Check it out - TKCBE

I'm sure TradeKing's lawyers will look this over.  In which case, if it's taken down.  That's fine.  I promise my feelings won't be hurt.

Experienced TK'ers shouldn't ever run into trouble, BUT I worry some newbie might try something shady.  Legally, you are covered by your disclaimer, but that doesn't always hold up if there was an expectation of possible fraud opportunities. Even the big guys like eBay, Craigslist, etc. end up in court even though they have 'legally' done nothing wrong. The price of accusation is the same as the price of guilt.

Having said that, I think it's a great idea.

Thanks Corbinb2.  It will be interesting to see how it turns out.  If I'm putting TK in a position where they could be just minutely responsible for someone getting ripped off,  then I'd rather just not have group.   I feel everyone out here is intelligent enough to know whether or not they're dealing with someone on the up and up.

If there is a legal issue involved.  Perhaps it's as easly as having a disclaimer pop up and having the user click a checkbox before clicking "Join This Group".

The group could be invite only as well, with a minimum criteria...(time on Tradeking for example)

Like I said love the idea, but always have to watch for Mr. Whatif.

Not a bad idea, just not sure if there is enough liduidity to be able to buy, sell, trade investment materials. I have some 4 to 5 books I've read, but for the most part they are nice to have around and re-read sometimes. Just my opinion. :)

Thanks EnglishTeach  ( also thanks for the suggestion on the group name )

Corbinb2,  for now I'll leave it open to all community members and see how it goes, but what you suggest is always an option.   I feel I have a good idea which members out here I can trust.   In the end, we're talking about books here.   If I sent a book to someone and I never hear from them again.  It's my loss.  I'm not going to cry over it (it's just a book after all).   To me a larger issue is how to keep the exchange of personal information to a minimum.  Obviously, the receiver needs to supply an address to send the book too.  The sender needs to also supply an address to send money (or a book if it's a trade),  but I think and address is really the only information that's required.

Locogmack,  I have a bunch of books I've read.  And most I'll never read again,  but I see your point.  There are a couple I'll never get rid of,  even if I don't read them again, I still want them in my libarary.

The ones I do want to get rid of,  I'll probably go through this weekend and put a post on the forum sometime this weekend.

I've actually already given a book away to another TK member a while back.  I mentioned I had the book in a group post,  they asked if I would be willing to sell it.   I told the person they could have it if they paid for shipping ( which they did through paypal ),  I sent it off and everything went smoothly.  There was already a level of trust with this person beforehand though.
