Celebrating his 64th birthday this April, PIMCO investment manager Bill Gross shares his global outlook and strategy for 2008, distilling down some of the ideas that he has previously shared at PIMCO Investment Committee meetings. It's a welcome chance to get inside the head of one of the world's biggest bond fund managers. In his April Investment Outlook, Gross tracks four primary themes:
(1) Credit markets, re-regulation and home prices;
(2) Bear Stearns and the "shadow banking system";
(3) Asset-backed lending;
(4) Taxpayer-financed bailouts
Gross concludes that "home price declines have to be halted in order to revive the U.S. economy" and "the Bear Stearns crisis and its solution will lead to increased government regulation and a higher probability of inflation."
Anyway, if reading about regulation and the credit markets sounds a bit dry, be sure to check out Bill Gross on iTunes -- it's possible to subscribe to his Investment Outlook as a free podcast subscription! (in the iTunes search box, just type in "Bill Gross PIMCO")
