The best year-end investment forecasts

Anybody stuck in an airport or train station during the busy holiday travel season has probably had the opportunity to peruse a number of the year-end "Where to Invest in 2008" specials prominently displayed on the racks of magazine kiosks. Among some of the best year-end investment specials:

(1) Smart Money - Where to Invest 2008

(2) FORTUNE - Investor's Guide 2008

(3) Kiplinger's - Where to Invest in 2008

(4) Business Week - Where to Invest 2008

While many of the "expert forecasts" really just extrapolate on existing trends ("watch out for more volatility in 2008," "financial stocks will continue to be a dicey proposition"), there are some interesting tidbits sprinkled in that help individual investors uncover new companies in overlooked segments of the world equity markets.
