After hours trading

perfectstone posted on 06/20/12 at 09:39 PM

Hey trade king I was just wondering if anyone out there is familiar with after hour trading.  Is it just another advantage that the institutions have over the common investor?  I had a position in FSII and a resting stop order that it blew threw. They reporting earnings yesterday and the news said that it had fallen in after hours trading.  So my question is are existing orders overlooked in after hours trading? I notice that there is an extra hour icon in the trading section, has anyone out there used this before? Any insight is appreciated, hope everyone is doing well.

TradeKing offer limited after hours trading.  You do so 8am EST to 9:30am EST and also from 4pm EST to 5pm EST.  Though actual after hours trading runs past 5pm EST.  You can utilize after hours trading with TradeKing though, but all trades must be limit trades.

Regular trading hour orders only execute during standard trading hours and, yes, they are ignored in aftermarket trading.

Sorry to hear about your FSII loss, but hopefully it will make you all the wiser.

In deed, fortunately the loss was minimal but my stop was .20 cents higher than where I got filled.  I feel pretty fortunate that it wasn't filled much lower.  Still its frustrating, seems like a double standard.  Thanks for the info!

If you are unaccustomed to off hours trading, you should be very, very careful. Trading volumes can be rather thin and pricing can vary a great deal from the regular hours. Only limit orders are accepted, and they are just good for that session. Orders are order executed when there is a match (with another order), and sometimes people will place a really ‘outside’ order hoping that some ‘sucker’ will bite. This often happens when some rumor gets started in the off hours and someone gets scared or giddy.

Definitely good to know spshapiro.  I appreciate the insight, maybe someday I will be able to use it to my advantage.

Can Trade King extend after-hours trading until 8PM like other brokers?
Most people busy working such as I, not off until around 7pm, this would be better for traders.
