I am posting this note almost 2-3 weeks after execution...originally, I was holding AMD and just slowly selling calls against it to reduce my basis. I was going long term. I didn't make a sell last month in March because I was below my basis and there was not enough premium. AMD came up some and even though the premium was still weak, I wanted to get out so I could try out some new trading ideas. So, I sold the call, and will come out 2% ahead after commissions for my trouble. Not bad, but not glamorous either. Guess my enthusiasm started to dwindle. I am still long on AMD, but I think there is time to play elsewhere and still come back before AMD really gets going.
Having said that, at the time of this post, AMD is up $1.10, and I am wondering why the sudden jump? Grrr.... Oh, well, I sold the call for protection and got it, but ultimately missed out on a little more fun. So, it is all good. I just have to remind myself, who knew this would happen? I made a good choice for the time being.
