I'm just curious how many of you (especially in the top 10) are using real time data?  Is it worth trying to make 25 trades in a month to get it free?  And how long is it free for?  Do I have to continue on that pace?

I'm guessing its worth it becuase I lost some cash this week at expiration because I made an ask with 20 minute delayed data.  What are your thoughts?

I have used different things for quotes, charts, and L2 data. I have another account with ETrade that gives me that info for being an active trader. The problem is,  most of my activity has been over here with TradeKing this quarter and I will lose my data. But I will be switching over to eSignal within 30 days and just pay for it.

IMO, eSignal gives me the best of everything under one roof. I'm looking to simplify my trading life.

It is pretty useful, albeit stressful. It is basically free with Tradeking, anyway as long as you make 10 or so trades a month. They set you up with a free one month trial, so you got nothing to lose by trying it.

Whether its useful depends on your system.   I use it for 75% of my entries and exits.    I don't do options, I can't speak to them.   50% of my trading is day trading, so obviously, they are necessary for that.   My other trading is momentum positions that I hold from one to 7 days average.   When I have available cash, I have my list in the mornings and I look to see who opens strong off my list.     So I need real time data to see make my entry.   Once I'm in, I  set up stops near the previous day's low.   So for exits I don't need real time data.   I let the positions stop out.
