Cox the scapegoat?

So, it's looking more and more like Bush, Paulson, et al will place their hands on Cox and send him off into the wilderness to bear the blame?  Any thoughts?

And what is "Extensible Business Reporting Language, or XBRL" ?

The market is down today, but it doesn't look as bad as last week did (at least not yet).

It seems to me there has been patronage system of corruption. From the person who declared false incomes to get loans, accomplices of real estate sales people, mortgage brokers, banks, rating agencies, insurance companies writing CDS's without sufficient reserves, SEC for increasing leverage levels beyond reasonable, Paulson for misleading the public about the dangers of the finance system, all the way to the top. Now there are also the corporations (non-persons). They take the earnings of labor and direct them to 401K's to pump stocks and then load their junk MBS into money markets. They borrow money from money markets, while the participants in the money market are left with unpriced MBS. So, labor pays too much for housing, and looses their savings to MBS, while corporations used the money and paid piss poor interest. Then labor has to pay higher taxes after loosing their retirement so CEO's can take golden parachutes allowing them to get villas anywhere away from the dispossessed. XBRL is probably an extensible markup language (XML) variant. XML is just a system of tags which surround and mark elements. It is kind of similar to HTML, but XML can be used to make your own system of tags. My hunch is XBRL is an XML system of tags for marking up business reports.

Am I alone in wondering why Cox chooses a turbulent week to show off this new system?  Surely he didn't think it was enough to divert attention?  Sometimes I wonder if the American public is slowly helping to morph Washington into some form of Hollywood.
