Friday Community shout-out!

laser_star.jpgHello, Friday! Always good to see ya. Join me, if you will, in a quick tour of the latest happenings in the TK Community…

New faces on the Leaderboard this week include skilines, who roared to the top recently with what must’ve been some screamin’ good trades, and Shifty Rooster. Congratulations, both of you! And hey, skilines: I’d love to read your Trade Notes sometime. Check out these posts on why it’s worth turning on your Certified Trades and writing a Trade or Position Note.

Speaking of Leaderboard folks, top trader MikkelFishman blogged for the first time recently, explaining his trading style and how he differentiates between investing and speculation. Godspeedj is jetting off to Bangkok, with a little energy-rant before he goes. I couldn’t agree more with his assessment: “This is no bubble. Every Chinese and Indian person wants a car, somewhere someone is turning on a lightbulb for the first time, and that energy demand will only increase with time. More people=more energy consumption.” Another Leaderboarder Lil’ Grass Shack has the same idea, banking on JRCC for some solid gains.

Meanwhile, I dug this super-lively discussion about when the financials could bounce back.

Finally, Rauchcory is ruminating on some tough lessons learned, as is DannyUpshaw. What about the rest of you folks – any other “lessons learned” discussions out there that are worth highlighting for the group?

I've said for a long time that once democracy hits the rest the world, things would change. Along with freedom comes the right to want more and the freedom to try to obtain it. This all translates into more demand, and we all know what corporations do when they smell demand....lol

I do think that speculation is at least part of the reason we are seeing record energy costs in general. However, when car dealers are making offers on TV GUARANTEEING $2.99/gallon gas, you know we aint going back lower than that anytime soon.

Truer words were never spoken, Corbin2. Although you did catch my attention with those car dealers offering $2.99/gallon gas - what is that, a promotion they're sponsoring to get you to buy a new car? I definitely brake for cheap gas, when I can find it!
