Say it with me now, people: F-R-I-D-A-Y! Time for my cup o’ joe and the Community Shout-out.I’m always pleasantly surprised by all the new faces on the Leaderboard. It’s kind of amazing that newcomers continue to arrive who can beat the returns of old hands here (and that trend definitely reverses itself, too). Fresh blood keeps things pretty interesting, no?

Everybody was watching the banks and GOOG’s wild ride on earnings this week. Our All-Star commentator Doc Maher used GOOG to explain successful straddle trading – although he’s careful to make clear that the trade was a hypothetical success but could’ve easily been burnt due to post-earnings volatility crunch. (Btw, if you’re hungry for more education, OptionsGuy wrote a great series on that concept not too long ago – it starts here.) We’re also seeing lots of activity in Bank of America on both sides, but nobody’s saying why. People, we’d love to hear your thinking and get some discussion going!
Meanwhile, KrazyTrader celebrates a 88% profit on a CFC options trade this week; Will Profit aims to earn his from an even deeper housing slump. On another topic entirely, our community manager Rebecca Cooper led a brisk discussion on phishing and other Internet scams – lots of good pointers there.
I’m saving the best news for last: our very own UPod just announced that he’s about to become a dad - congratulations!
