Friday community shout-out!

Got my coffee, and I’m ready to check out the latest action in the TK community. Who’s new this week?

JBManning takes stock of some interesting technical patterns on GOOG, RIMM and the Dow. Itsallgood raises a glass to his 2007 returns: +173% - not too shabby, Jim. If you’ve ever been curious about investing in ethanol, you’ll enjoy this conversation between Rafael and JBManning. Zeninvestor just chimed in for the first time, looking for other MELI fans.

Meanwhile, cft posted some eye-opening stats about top oil-exporting countries to the U.S. – what’s eye-opening is how much less oil is coming from the Middle East than I would’ve guessed. Cft, can you let us know what your source for this data was?

Last but not least, Darylrs aired his views on investing in the financials; he’s been buying calls on XLF, the ETF geared to the financial services sector, expecting a rebound. Our own Brian Overby (aka the Options Guy) posted on XLF just before the holidays, so if the financials tempt you either on the up- or down-side, here’s some reading to get you started.
