Welcome to Friday, traders! Another action-packed week behind us. Stocks cruised into the week mixed-to-flat, while Iran’s election protests keep building, fueling oil speculation. Meanwhile, “Black Swan Trader” Mark Spitznagel bet the farm on huge inflation coming soon. Never a dull moment, eh?
A few new traders popped up on the TradeKing Leaderboard this week. Join me in congratulating Khai PA, Triple_Nickel and my namesake (but this is NOT me, folks!) Bigdawg1101. Nice trading!
Over in the forums, jimmycooper is fishing for hot plays of the week – got any ideas to share? If you’ve ever wondered about trading around FDA estimated approval dates for pharma stocks, here’s a list for 2009. (Beware though: when the FDA says “estimated” approval, that really does mean zero guarantees. These dates get shifted around very, very frequently.)
Meanwhile, Waiting-for-the-roving-gangs asks the healthcare question of the day: Are we expecting too much, in savings and quality improvement, from electronic medical records? This thread expands into a fascinating discussion about healthcare reform generally.
On a personal note, college kids are driving these forum folks crazy – how’s your kid managing the transition into adulthood? Now I just have to hope my dad doesn’t chime in with some horror stories from my teenage years…
Enjoy your weekend!
