Let the Games Begin!

Game On!
The clock is ticking down to the start of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and I can’t wait. I know there are a lot of folks who don’t watch the Olympics or just watch them in passing if they happen to be on wherever they are. You might find that you’ll tune in casually end up glued to the TV after all – I’ve seen that happen. If you are not a fan of the games, I urge you just to check them out for a bit. You might just find something you like!
I am a big fan, especially of the summer games. As some of you already know, I was a competitive swimmer in my younger years and still get my laps in a few times a week when I’m not traveling. I will definitely be tuned into the swimming events and counting Michael Phelps’ medals. I will also be checking in on the US Soccer teams, US Boxing and casually making sure The Dream Team is dominating the world in basketball. Of course, like any red-blooded male, I will be watching the female beach volleyball matches no matter what teams are on! ;)
One last thing that makes me a fan of the games are the games that aren’t on everyone’s radar. My girl Courtney nearly went to the Olympics as a competitive equestrian rider – 3-day eventer to be exact, so we will watching “the horsey stuff” for sure. Although, being from Canada, she’ll be rooting for our northern neighbor. I also enjoyed Archery, Canoe Slalom and Shooting last time around. And of course, the Brits will have a heckuva time topping China’s opening ceremonies.
Who else will be watching this year and what events are can’t miss on your list? Also, if you have any highlights to share, I would really appreciate it if you share with the rest of us here!
Let the games begin!
