Long Natural Gas, Short Financials

Nobody has lost money doing this, and won't for awhile.

Financials will bounce once capitulation is made, which won't happen until some major financial institution goes bankrupt?

Solution to the oil crisis?  Natural Gas...it is clean burning, doesn't require offshore drilling and is plenty abundant in this country in the shales.

I am bearish on HSBC Holdings, Bank of America, Zions Bancorp, Sun Trust, Marshall & Ilsley

I am bullish on Chesapeake Energy, Petrohawk Energy, Petroquest Energy, Southwestern Energy, Canadian Natural Resources, XTO Energy, Williams (WMB) and El Paso (EP).

I would only disagree with your solution to the oil crisis.  There is no solution anytime soon.  It has taken 30 years of inactifity, or should I say total disregard to get here.  It is going to take quite some time to fix regardless of the direction taken.  I would doubt if even the oil producing countries could start pumping at 130% capacity would cure the demand problem given who is going to refine it.  Of course, it may work itself out in the short term if the world goes into a recession.

Agreed there is no solution in the short-term.  But in the US and Canada we have massive amounts of natural gas.  Let's start drilling and using.

The real problem with alternative fuels is public access. For example, in Tucson where I live, E85 Flex Fuel is quite popular, but still only a few stations actually carry it so if you live to far away from the station that does, you end up driving more to get hte gas that is better for the environment?

The same goes for other alternative fuels with the exeption of electric of course. Natural gas would pose the same problem. What we need is another standardized change to a natural fuel for all, much like the switch from leaded to unleaded years back, that would standardize the new fuel and make it thereby accessible to all through the stations they already visit.

Until this is the thought process for alternative fuels, there is no point aside from research to seriously consider alternative fuels as a source of 'public' fuel.

Well, removing the ethanol tarrifs would make gas a little cheaper.  On the plus side corn would go down and everything corn related could be cheaper.

And as an added bonus we could sell the iron from the ethanol plant and maybe I could afford a metal roof for my house. Can you tell that I love ethanol and wish we used the alternative fuel all the time.
