Hey all,
I recently began trading and have done well so far. I am looking at RIMM(research in motion),RIG(transocean), and COF(capital one financial) for purchase and was looking for others takes on these stocks. I have had these companies on my watch list for a while and have heard positive things about each one(more so RIMM and RIG than COF) and just wanted to hear people other than analyst talk about them. I would also like to hear posible trades others are thinking about(if you would like to share).

Using TK's research ,  COF is a sell .  It might get a bump from TARP money but I am worried that it still may have some worse long term news coming in the form of rate increases and exposure to the CDS market. VISA just raised rates. COF is struggling with debt Americans may start buying again , but I don't think they do it buy using credit cards .

RIG and Rimm look good .  I think RIMM has gotten too hot . Any tech stock that rockets to the top 40-50% in a matter days always seems to correct the day I decide to pull the trigger .

  I am thinking of HLIT , EBAY , ORCL , SPIL , and X .

let me know what you think .

This is a slow forum . I guess fundemental trading is passe'

Very true on the slow forum but it might come back with the market.
Most of the stocks you mentioned look good. The only one I am a little hesitant of is US steel. With housing still very slow and industrial construction not looking great either I think X will only grow moderately in the coming quarters if at all. I don't think it will get back to levels we saw last year for several years if ever. For a buy and hold for 3-5years they could be a good pick but you might be able to generate better returns by investing more in your other picks.
As far as the others go, historically prices have not be all that fantastic but with the market overhaul occurring now these guys might come out in great shape. I don't know much about them but their capital positions look good and analysts like them.

Thanks for the advice on my picks and I wish you the best of look as the markets turn bull :)
