I shorted REW at 28.8 but in the unrealized profits section it says I shorted at 27.9. This started happening recently and was wondering if TK is stealing my profits? Also it was a clean single order at the time so I did not change the price when I put it up. I'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else?

zCreator,

If you would like to contact us tomorrow through live chat or over the phone at 877-495-5464 we would be happy to go through your unrealized gain/loss page to explain why it is displaying that way for you. When you are reviewing your unrealized gain/loss page please keep in mind that the page will factor in the commission that you have paid for the security. In addition to the commission if you are shorting a stock you would have the SEC fee that is charged.

While clients are logged into their accounts they can go to Accounts > Activity to review the recent trades in the account. You would be able to confirm the total amount that you brought in for the short sale. If you then divide that number by the number of shares that you have shorted you would see what your average price was per share. Since our system goes out to 2 decimal places the system will round.

Best regards,

I don't do that shorting thing yet. Too sophisticated for me, but I know TK's representatives are very friendly and open about answering your questions. I write them an email and even on weekends I get a return promptly and during weekdays, I've had returned emails within only a few minutes.

Wrote the wrong value. 27.9 should be 28.79. I find it very strange because this started happening with my trade with PRGN (which I was long in). The strange this is every where else is shows that I shorted at 28.8 but in G&L unrealized it shows 28.79.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I am not sure about shorts but on the G&L page TK will roll-in the transaction costs of purchasing a share. For instance, if you buy a hundred shares of a 5 dollar stock they add the approx. penny per share that the trade costs and put it in the reality-based 'costs' column. Of course when you sell, you need to remember another trade costs in calculation of the loss/profit in the trade too.

Thank you for clearing that up. I apologize for overreacting.
