Well, we're down about 8 percent. I might have to bail completely. Down to about 50 percent cash which is good, but 100 percent would be better except for my local bank that I got at the bottom of a major V.
So I am hearing Warren Buffett telling how things are so rosy in America. Saying that only makes me less rosy. CNBC is really missing the international downsizing I am seeing on finer news outlets like Bloomberg, Finviz, etc. Buffett buying BNI is nice since it's below it's 200 day ema. that's news??? So BNI is still in a Depression more or less and Buffett's a bottom feeder?? |

Dave, Buffet wouldn't assess the success of an investment in less than a 3-5 period (I know, favorite holding period-forever.) So his buying a railroad is really saying, when the economy comes back, goods will move by rail. This is not a terribly deep concept, it just requires the patience to wait for the red light, so the cross traffic stops and you can safely cross the street.

Today will be a bad day on Wallstreet.

shapiro, my ADHD is showing, right? I think Buffett's strategy is a good one and hopeful and also opportunistic as BNI is low priced for it's value. But it's also a 'bet'. He's already made his money on stocks that really didn't help our country at all. I think of KO inflicting major obesity and empty calories. That was a major money maker for him. He's a product of the 50s and 60s and I doubt his wisdom is going to help us going out.
wow, a big bump for BNI.. a shorting opportunity in the short term future? |

Dave, If you don't think this is the end of civilization, as we've come to know and love it, then EVENTUALLY, shit got to be delivered. Trains are the most efficient way of long haul shipping. This as I said above is not rocket science, and I don't care if Warren is senile or not, don't bet against this longterm. Shortterm?, "Frankly, Scarlet..."

Not sure what you are basing that on, but a bad day on Wall Street is usually a good day to pick up some bargains. This isn't rocket science. Remember rule # 1 - buy low... sell high. Works whether you are a day trader, swing trader, or buy n hold. |

I'm not betting much more than to say we likely see 9500 for the short term with the annual end of year hedge fund & investment bank voo-doo.
I will say Steve Leisman pointed something out regarding yesterdays positive ISM report, statistically the ensuing unemployment numbers are something like 97% sure to be improved when the ISM has improved at rates it did on yesterdays report. With unemployment being the #1 bearish driver right now, we could see a rebound by weeks end, I'm not betting the farm on it, but I am keeping it in perspective with regard to my shorts. If Fridays unemployment isn't good, all bets are off. |

I think he just bought KO because he loves to drink cherry Coke. They probably gave him a discount on it. |
