Wow, just wow!
http://zerohedge.blogspot.com/2009/06/dennis-lets-zero-hedge-have-it.html I missed this one, as I have other things to do than watch TV but... what'd I say about CNBC's worst things? this guy who i thought was some sort of Elvis Costello lookalike, no more, no less, seems to be on a one man crusade to sink the economy. Every time he pleads with us that everything is hunky-dory the more I am going to pull the triggers on inverse etfs. I don't get bloomberg or some of the other 'money channells' on my home satellite, so CNBC is it for financial stuff.. .. but I'll give it one thing. It is entertaining!!! |

HAHAHAHAHA .. I missed the show last night because I was exhausted, so thank you for pointing this out. He annoys me sometimes when he gets all loud and stuff like Larry Kudlow (although Kudlow really drives me nuts, I have to change the channel).
I'm not a blogger or anything along the lines of what he was yelling at, although I actually have a little more respect for him now after seeing that. So yesterday afternoon I emailed him pretty much telling him to calm down, it's annoying when he yells and it makes me (and others I am aware of) want to change the channel. The "you annoy me" email usually gets ignored, no response.... I guess he knew he was doing this rant later that day though. His first response basically said he was trying to provoke, which I understand. The second email was why I appreciated seeing this. I normally wouldn't repaste a private email, but I doubt he checks the TK boards and it's nothing special: And thanks for your gentlemanly response. It's hard to play an asshole on television, ahem, but somebody's gotta do it. I've been anchoring the 8pm nightly show--please tune in some nite to learn whether I am even more irritating... Or less. We have a lotta fun at 8. Happy independence day to you, sir. Dk The gentlmanly response may be somewhat sarcastic, I was a bit of a dick the first time around but I think my list of annoying people on CNBC that I dislike watching has dropped by one now since that email and seeing him stand up for himself. (Or is it just me that likes people more when they see them stand up for themselves?) |

Have to admit he was more than just annoying to me also. My satellite hookup though doesn't download fast enough, so the replay was choppy so that was more annoying than anything. However, his argumentation was rampantly unfair. Comparing himself with beleagured little bloggers making next to nothing in their pursuit of being 'new journalists' is way unfair. He's probably getting several hundred k a year to b.s. and rant his propaganda (approved by larry kudlow and whomever..) and he has a contract for at least a year. Hey, doing that schieckt for free would be more 'brave' if he was comparing himself to the 'bloggers' who have to be anonymous much of the time to preserve their 'day jobs'.
ah oh, I hope our DK isn't the same guy?? If he is I hope I didn't offend him. |

Dave, DK is a 50+ year old high school teacher.
"DK" aka Dennis Kneele strikes me as having grown up upper middle or upper class in a sheltered home....and now exhorts the demise of upper class conservatism as if he knows all about the real world. He's currently waging a war with a blogger for calling him "Beaker" from the muppets. Ye gads man, he's making seven figures or close to it...it comes with the territory. he spends relentless hour after hour ranting about Obama, bashing political beliefs and doing all he can to undermine the current administrations efforts to lift us out of the recession, someone calls him a muppet and he's angry? Let me up the ante...Dennis Kneale, you're Miss Piggy! |

If you get bored in the middle of the day just email him (or whoever) if they decide to respond it usually comes back pretty quick (during commercials etc): first.last@nbcuni.com (And based on this I'm sure you can figure out his email address). (Moderators: This isn't secret info so no need to delete this post. Once in a while they'll say their email address on tv or anytime they respond to the ones directed at showname@cnbc.com it comes from their private nbcuni.com address). |

I just saw that Dennis went to the University of Florida, as a lifelong Florida Gators fan, I have no choice but to like the guy now, lol. I even have started following him on Twitter, and Tweeted him that I was following him only because he went to the University of Florida. I still dont agree with a thing the guy says, but atleast he was a Gator.

Was he at 8:00 PM? According to this report he got 232K viewers, much more than Mad Money or even Fast Money

I wasn't sure to put this here, or on the "ten things I hate about CNBC" thread, but apparently that thread would have to be retitlled "Nine things I hate about CNBC" for this reason: http://www.observer.com/2009/media/cnbc-cancels-dennis-kneales-run-8-pm

I am not dancing on Dennis's grave, Inc. and he's getting paid plenty I am sure, but it's nice to return to those earlier days of my being here. I lost a bit of money in July and maybe that made me a little more cynical and observant. I am much more leery of losses now and tightening up and pruning faster the slackers on my portfolio. And trying not to write so much... Ha, we'll see how long that lasts!! This place is addicting.
Like Mr. Reed, I suspect Dennis is probably a fun guy in person, but his pat, general ideology was so mainstream and in your face at the same time, it was just a loser for CNBC but like the article points out- nothing's going to win in that time slot. Esp. Kudlow. But I guess he's a principle there and can't be gotten rid of. CNBC's getting less and less of my attention except for some of the morning stuff. |

I have been out of pocket lately but did they say what comes in his place. Maybe something from the land down under like Amanda's Hour

OF, hilarious, Zerohedge made that crack, about maybe just rerunning the porn special they did a few months back with Amanda Drury as the host, over and over and over.
As much in bad taste as the comment was, I sure as hell would watch her, over and over and over..... I just think there's a lesson to learn here for any upcoming & aspiring talk show host who wants to succeed, don't bore the viewer with the same exact rants day after day, be interesting, stand out from the crowd rather than being just another "controversial" angry commentator. |
