Maybe he got fed up with a lot of the BS that goes on around here, and I don't deny for a second that I didn't contribute my fair share. O Wise One doesn't like to be involved with stuff like that.. Good person.

They need to initiative the new forum system ASAP so that all the junk can be filtered. It's ridiculous

The problem with democracy is that it is free. That's also its strength. The only filter that will work, Ven, is the one we use ourselves. Fortunately we are only dealing with words here, so it's relatively easy to ignore that which is offensive. It is only when someone feels compelled to act on their bigotry that I feel a need to respond. Owl's academic background is similar to mine; his politics came from a different direction (I think the difference in our ages might have some bearing on this.) However, what I always respected, and so did he, was the understanding that you give reasons for your positions, and people can comment on whether your rational stood up under examination. There are some people here, like elsewhere, who think shouting is making an argument. I am unwilling to have a lobotomy in order to meet them on an equal plane.

To be honest, with Owls line of work, I'm surprised he'd had the amount of time he's had in the past to post.
That said, I'm now going to hold my breath until Owl posts something...Owl, if you don't post, you'll have this on your conscience. |

Sure hope he didn’t take that the wrong way, I know Owl has a sense of humor, and I have nothing but respect for him, hope he comes back soon!

Veneratio, Owl is a Professor of Philosophy, I think he enjoys debating those that disagree with him, and has no trouble holding his own. Hopefully, his absence is temporary! |

Well, all I can say is that Owl is alive and well and looks like he finally took some revenge out on Avis.. wrecked those cars pretty good, he did... heheheeh Happy Trading... /:) |

Philosophy .... hmm such a broad field. I'd like to know his specialty. I have read his posts and respect him greatly. I do, however, have strongly held positions on metaphysics, phenominology and cognition. Hope to see him soon. I'd love to debate him on these.
