Interesting article SB. I pay the cost of two front months for VXX. If they II > I usually I do not use VXX but VIX only

Guys, from a purely historic perspective, since 1990 the VIX trades in multi-year range-bound phases, roughly 4 to 7 years at a time.

Between 1991 and 1996 the VIX traded to 19 at it's highest, 10 at the low end

Between '96 and 2003, it traded with 19 being at the low end of the range.

From '03 to mid '07 it traded between 11 and 16.

Since '07 it has traded with 16 being at the low end.

One might conclude we might soon enter another lower range for a few years.

There's no guaranteeing history repeats, but if we're at the end of a higher phase, 16 could potentially be the higher end for the next few years.

This is one more reason I won't buy VXX, but instead, wait for spikes to short it.

Back in 2004, when VXX was first created and the VIX was trading in the lower end, VXX took severe losses in roll decay.
