vz should I sell?

I'm trying to decide if I should keep verizon or dump it. It's been flat since I bought it.

Should have included 32 @ 30.65... Currently trading at close 29.64....

Let's assume you just bought this stock at 30.65 on 30 June ish...   What exit price would you place on this stock if you were to keep it... What exit price if the stock goes below this xx.x price...  Is the company meeting is targets... Is the company releasing new phones.... Is the company got some really good babes coming to the door to do phone surveys...  Does the company pay divi's... When?

008.... This one I thinks you can figure out...  The best question to ask is how do I go to quotes and research tab of trade king... and find the research reports tab and type in the stock vz and see what it says...  It has a flashing light red called sell...  Then download the pdf for company financials and look to see what you think....

You bought this company around the 30th of June?  Why... was it gooder then than now... what changed... down market or droped ball by vz....  The question to yourself would be what brought you to push the buy trigger... and what will cause you to push the sell trigger...

what the he((. I've lost over a thousand bucks doing trades in the last couple of months as a newbie but I am learning to make thousands more so just don't worry so much, Learn! Discern between growth stocks and buy and hold stocks. VZ and others in that 'blue chip' category tend to be 'buy and hold'. They should pay dividends and will eventually go up as we're still quite a bit down from recent highs (like two years ago or more) so you might have to wait a while to sell them at a profit. If you want quick profits you'll have to look hard for 'growth' stocks that tend to be small or mid caps, in techs, medical, education, or something "New". Or large companies with something "New" like Apple's Iphone..but that might be a little late too.

Patience or just sell 'em and shop for a better priced stock are your choices?  If selling you'll only lose a few bucks and commissions, but not the whole Kahuna as if you were gambling (or doing options much of the time.) Say you lost 15 percent of your investment...but then you have cash to invest in something that goes up 50 percent in two weeks? You'd be better off with the cash to invest in the upturning stock than leaving it in the loser. But then you'll have to research and focus more this time to find such a gainer. And you might not?  However if you had 5 percent dividends in that stock and it goes down and up only 3 percent in a month...why move at all? Just wait.

someone said to sell if any stock gets below minus 7 percent of what you paid for it and go find another more likely to go up instead of down. Or sell for profit if you're lucky to find one going up 20 percent. (attributed to Incubus, I think, and others)

You might have just got in the market at the wrong time... early June is a 'wrong time' to buy in my opinion 'cuz that's what I did. So you need to have a exit strategy as Otter way points out. In my strategy, I use inverse etfs to cushion downturns. SIJ and SDS and others have had a good month btw. So it's good to always have cash on the side to move into other positions as you'll need some time to get out of a bad position....to wait for a better price to sell at...

I  like vz for the dividend.  Might buy somemore. The dividend date is oct 7. Will wait until it gets back to 30.50 and sell. Any ideas
